International Religious Freedom (IRF) Summit 2021

Date: July 13-15, 2021

Location: Omni Shoreham Hotel, Washington, D.C.

The inaugural International Religious Freedom (IRF) Summit was held in Washington, D.C. for the first time in 2021, on the heels of the successful Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom that was started under the Trump administration in 2018. Since the new Biden administration did not host the event in D.C., several prominent former US officials, NGO leaders, and activists from the US and overseas, decided to hold the first-ever NGO-led international forum on religious freedom in Washington, D.C., convening a gathering of more than a thousand attendees and dozens of world-renowned NGOs, religious organizations, and think tanks. One Korea Network (OKN) participated as a major donor and sponsor including having presented the case of the persecution of the Rev. Jun Gwang Hoon by the Moon Jae-in government of South Korea as an issue at the inaugural IRF.  OKN also hosted a separate side event/panel session featuring the Rev. Jun and other experts to further discuss this issue. OKN’s presence at the inaugural IRF event made a strong impact in promoting our organization and our work.
