On January 6th, the SEON-JIN Lawyers Association and KCPAC co-hosted a seminar titled “The Second Term of President Trump and the Direction of South Korea” at the National Assembly’s Second Seminar Room.
The event focused on analyzing the impact of President Trump’s second term on international dynamics, including U.S.-China rivalry, the Korean Peninsula, and energy policies, while exploring strategies for South Korea to pursue decoupling from China and North Korea.
2025년 1월 6일, 선진변호사협회와 KCPAC은 국회 제2세미나실에서 “트럼프 미 대통령 제2기 출범과 대한민국 국가 방향성” 세미나를 공동 주최했습니다.
이번 행사는 트럼프 대통령의 제2기 출범이 미중 경쟁, 한반도, 에너지 정책 등 국제 정세에 미칠 영향을 분석하고, 대한민국이 중국과 북한으로부터 탈피하는 방향성에 대해 탐구하는 자리가 되었습니다.

Professor Lee Ji-yong of Keimyung University opened with a presentation on “U.S.-China Relations in Trump’s Second Term.” He emphasized the importance of bolstering the U.S.-ROK alliance to prevent South Korea from becoming the “weak link” in escalating U.S.-China tensions. Professor Lee also highlighted the need for South Korea to strengthen its economic and security cooperation with Western nations to maintain a foothold in the restructured global supply chain.
Dr. Daniel Cho, President of the 1776 Institute, addressed “The Trump Administration’s North Korea Policy in the Second Term.” He projected that Trump’s administration would maintain its “maximum pressure” approach and called for South Korea to align its defense posture and strategy to reduce military threats from the North. He further emphasized the importance of promoting values of freedom and human rights in North Korea as part of a unified U.S.-ROK effort.
Attorney Park Joo Hyeon, President of the SEON-JIN Lawyers Association and KCPAC’s Korea Representative, delivered a presentation on “Overcoming Election Fraud in the U.S. and Ensuring Electoral Justice in South Korea.” Park shared insights into Trump’s efforts to address election irregularities in the U.S., urging South Korea to implement electoral reforms to strengthen its democracy and rule of law.

이지용 계명대 교수는 “트럼프 2기 행정부와 미중 관계”를 주제로 발표했습니다. 이 교수는 한미 동맹을 강화해 대한민국이 미중 갈등에서 “약한 고리”가 되지 않도록 해야 한다고 강조했으며, 대한민국이 서방 국가들과의 경제 및 안보 협력을 강화해야 한다고 언급했습니다.
조평세 1776 연구소 대표는 “트럼프 2기 행정부의 대북 정책”에 대해 발표하며, 트럼프 행정부가 북한에 대한 “최대 압박” 정책을 지속할 것이라 전망하며, 대한민국이 북핵 위협에 대응할 수 있는 전략을 세울 필요가 있다 고 강조했습니다. 그는 또한 북한의 자유와 인권을 중시하는 가치관을 공유하는 것이 중요하다고 언급했습니다.
박주현 선진변호사협회 회장 겸 KCPAC 한국 대표는 “미국 부정선거 극복과 대한민국 선거 정의 확립 방안”에 대해 발표했습니다. 박 회장은 트럼프 대통령이 제기한 부정선거 문제와 선거제도 개혁의 필요성을 설명하고, 대한민국도 이를 위해 노력해야 한다고 강조했습니다.
